Visit to the most well known excavations on Crete. Archaeological Museum, where innumerable finds are on display and not only from Knossos.Tour of the town.
2. Day: Minoan Palace of Malia / Dikti Cave on the Lassithi Plateau
Visit to the third largest Palace complex near Malia and the Dikti Cave, birthplace of Zeus.Tour round the Plateau.
3. Day: Gortyna / Minoan Palace of Phaestos / Matala Journey in time to pre-historic Matala with caves dating from the Stone Age. Visit to the second largest Palace complex in Phaestos and tour of Gortyna, the first capital of Crete during the Roman Era.
4. Day: Sitia / Zakros / Toplou
Journey through a part of Crete, which was
already inhabited three thousand years BC to Zakros, the smallest palace complex, in the far southeast of the island standing at the beginning of the “Valley of the Dead”. Toplou monastery is rich in land and was a centre of resistance during the Turkish occupation. Valuable icons and vestments are on display.
5. Day: Unknown Mountains Bus journey into the heart of the island. Impressions of land and people. Visit to the towns of Agios Nikolaos and Ierapetra. Via Viannos to the potters’ village of Thrapsano.

2. Day: Minoan Palace of Malia / Dikti Cave on the Lassithi Plateau as above
3. Day: Rethymnon Old Town - Fortezza / Chania Town
Tour of Rethymnon old town and visit to the small but
impressive museum and the Fortezza. Drive to Chania and tour of the old town. Visit to the ancient town Aptera overlooking Souda Bay.
4. Day: Land & People Journey into the area around Rethymnon through typical villages. Visit to the Minoan cemetery in Armeni, where more than 200 graves have been uncovered. The excavated finds are on display in the archaeological museums of Rethymnon and Chania.
5. Day: Arkadi / Eleftherna / Margarites Halfday excursion to the Monastery of Arkadi, the symbol of resistance for the Cretans. Visit to the ruins of the ancient Greek town of Eleftherna not far away from Arkadi. Drive to Margarites, a pretty potters’ village.
